This week’s new Dustinland comic was about Trump supporters and how to relate to them, although really it’s just a clever way of mocking them. I find they respond better to this sort of thing. When you get serious with them, they just try to piss you off because that’s what they enjoy most. That’s really their ultimate hope from the Trump presidency: piss off liberals (and keep away the brown people).
But yeah, jokes. It’s sad the best way to respond to people during a Constitutional crisis occurring in the midst of a worldwide environmental catastrophe threatening all life on Earth, but if you have a better idea, let me know.

This week’s new Dustinland comic is pretty clear — it’s about how much Americans have come to hate each other. I think we always have, to some degree. The country really never got over the Civil War, which is pretty pathetic, but still, that’s life. But Trump has really stirred things up and made it even worse than it was during Bush or Obama.
So yeah, we all hate each other. Good times!
Also, I recognize this comic could be used as a meme for just about any subject matter, so hopefully it won’t get too Photoshopped.
Yes, this week’s new Dustinland comic is about impeachment. I didn’t want to do it, because there’s just so much noise out there and it’s so hard to beat the news cycle to it at this point, but it felt ridiculous to post something trivial in the midst of this crisis. But I do think I have a different take on it.
Is anyone even reading this, by the way? I do this blog and it gets likes every week but I wonder if it’s just essentially other bloggers autoliking my posts when I use similar tags. Maybe WordPress is just one big circle jerk where no one reads anyone else’s stuff but just fake likes their posts to get more people to their own blog. Social media is probably like that too. I mean, I do hear some people interact with each other. It’s happened to me before. Sometimes here. Maybe today!

I hope people understand this week’s Dustinland comic is satirical. I mean, I do sort of explain it in the first frame, but I am still a bit afraid of dumb dumbs not getting it and going all woke avenger on me. Not that I am against wokeness. I’m just against the combination of wokeness and stupidity, especially when wielded against purveyors of comedy.
Really though, if someone actually could get Trump supporters to actually care about (or even believe in) climate change, that would be nice. Trump would still probably do nothing about it, but at least that would be a start. I think they’ll start believing when something horrible happens to them — drought, fire etc… Just like all the Republicans politicians who were in the pockets of the insurance companies until their summer homes were destroyed by hurricanes and they didn’t get paid due to insurance loopholes. Suddenly they cared!
Meh, it’s too early for a rant (and unfortunately too early to start drinking).

I have been having a tough time lately coming up with cute observational comics as I watch the world burn. That’s what this week’s new Dustinland comic is about. I have a feeling people won’t enjoy it very much, since it’s just depressing and offers little humor or solution. But it’s really just therapy for me — I need to get it out so I can move on.

As I say in this week’s Dustinland comic: YAY! The Democrats won the House! Now we can relax and not have to think about politics for a while! Ah…. so chill. Nothing to worry about anymore!

Well, everyone, I as say in this week’s Dustinland comic, this is either the beginning of a potential return to sanity, or the end of democracy in America — and possibly the world. If Trump holds on to the Senate and the House, it’s over. This country will fall into straight up permanent minority rule, where the Trumps and the Kochs will sit at the top as Fox News spreads their propaganda, voting is just a fake display to cover up the rigged elections (if it’s not already), and everything else will fall to shit. And of course, just like in all right-wing authoritarian societies, violent mobs of fundamentalist thugs will help make sure dissent is kept quiet. It’s already started — all of this.
To be honest, even if the Democrats take back the House, even if they take the Senate, even if they impeach Trump – we may not ever get our country back. Something has been opened up and exposed, something uglier than most of us thought was there, buried deep within America. Or maybe not so deep. But now we all know, there is such hatred, fear and ignorance here, maybe another civil war is not so far off. Because the right is living in its own reality at this point, and they will not accept facts that don’t support what they want to believe, and they will not accept compromise.
Garry Kasparov said something about how dictators win by bringing their supporters so slow, so far down into the filth with them, making them slowly defend worse and worse things… eventually, they can’t come back. They’ve gone too far. To admit it was all wrong… that they were part of the horror… that’s too much to deal with. Scary times. I never thought I would see this happen here. I guess we’re never really safe. It’s like what you can feel in the air during a blackout. Civilization is an illusion that is only a few bad mistakes away from complete savagery.
Well, good luck. To us all.
