America Unmasked

This week’s new Dustinland comic is actually a combination of two comics I wanted to draw. One is just a quick two-frame zinger, so if you wanted a late-night talkshow host kinda gag, you can just stop there. The second part is a broader strip about… well, sort of everything. Just the general mental state of everyone in Western society right now. And I know no one cares anymore or wants to hear it so I made it into a song and dance.

So now you know, and knowing is really not that much of the battle, I’d say maybe 10% tops.

Bohemian Crapsody

This new Dustinland comic is obviously set to the lyrics of a song we all know and probably love, or at least find amusing. But not the part most people focus on. I don’t know how it happened, but these lyrics came to mind as just a perfect illustration of how I’ve been feeling lately.

Of course the next logical step would be to follow with a panel that replaces “Mama!” with “MAGA!” but I like that I ended it on this mental health note, which is essentially saying we all need to step away from everything and just briefly say “I don’t care.” It doesn’t mean to actually not care or to give up and not try. It just means you can’t let it be your entire life, you can’t keep doom strolling. Turn it off, unplug, and just BE.

CONvoy

This new Dustinland comic is about how there’s a Trump CONvoy coming to my town soon. Maybe tomorrow. Not sure. Supposedly it’s a “back the blue” convoy but we all know it’s just a parade full of brainwashed fascists for Trump, just waiting to unload their guns in the name of Q. So I churned out this quickie strip just to remind people to not play into their game, don’t meet them with violence, be peaceful, hell, maybe even ignore them. And vote. Let them have their truck and boat parties. The only thing that matters is that we vote out their criminal leader before the year is over, and Moscow Mitch with him.

Unqantifiable

This week’s new Dustinland comic is about the QAnon conspiracy, which is essentially a massive troll effort meant to destabilize America. On one hand, this is obviously absolutely frightening and depressing, but on the other hand, I think it’s more important to examine the state of our country and discuss why so many people were in the kind of mental state that this sort of madness would appeal to them. Because this is the real problem — and it’s a big one without a simple answer.

Overcome

This week’s new Dustinland comic is about conservatives and how horribly persecuted they are. Or want to be. You’ll see what I mean.
