Future Preppin

This week’s new Dustinland comic is not actually a Father’s Day comic, but the timing works out nicely so let’s just say that it is. I mean, it is about parenting, and I am a father, so there you go. Close enough! Seriously though, the pressure in the comic is real.

Father’s Day 2016

This is a little early for Father’s Day but I draw my comics on Sunday nights, so the only way to get this done in time would be to spend Saturday night or Father’s Day evening at the computer, and I’d rather not. So here’s a new Dustinland comic a little early for all the dads out there. And in fact, even more than that — it’s just a nice thought for parents in general, even people who aren’t parents. It’s just nice to think there are millions of these little people running around, innocent little kids, who don’t know the horrors of the world. Who wake up every day excited to experience something new and fun. That’s how it should be for every child. And maybe even every parent. Maybe we should learn from them and do our best to not be jaded, to stop and realize what a wonderful world this is, and to start every day fresh and full of possibilities.

Happy Father’s Day. Enjoy every moment.

Day Of The Dad

This week’s Dustinland was created in advance of Father’s Day. I could have released it on the actual day, but hey, this is Father’s Day, and I’m a father, so I get to do it my way this time. Really though, there is too much of a silly nature to Father’s Day, I think. Mother’s Day is heartfelt and meaningful. What are we doing for mom? Oh mom, there’s only one mom. Etc… Then Father’s Day comes around and it’s like, hey fatso, here’s a hot dog and a tie. It’s just a different vibe, and I think dads deserve better.

I love being a dad. But it’s hard (yes being a mom is hard too, but we’re not talking about that now). I don’t want to reiterate what I said in the comic, but.. well, here’s a quick story. I have these two dad friends. We had plans to hang out tonight after work. Last minute, ALL THREE OF US had to cancel. That’s #dadlife. Dads, you know what I mean. We live for a happy family. Beyond that, it’s the little things. Cliche, maybe. But cliches exist for a reason.

Dad on, dads. Dad on.

Father’s Day Reality

In terms of this week’s Dustinland comic… well, I always used to wonder why my dad didn’t care much about Father’s Day. Now I get it.

Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there! Enjoy it — if you’re allowed to!
