This week’s new Dustinland comic is about that feeling you get every morning when you wake up and realize it’s still 2020 and you have nothing to look forward to besides more stress, strife, fear and loathing. Sometimes I try to get excited about something… like, hmmm… maybe I can go by myself a donut today. That sort of thing. The little things. That seems to be something to live for when the big things are all horrible and you can see civilization collapsing before your very eyes.

This week’s new Dustinland comic is not really a guide to staying sane this summer, but rather a way to vent about how incredibly boring and frustrating it is to stay home with your family for weeks during 90-degree heat. There really is just nothing to do, and the days of “yay let’s do a puzzle” are far behind us. But while I complain in the strip in what I hope is a wacky relatable way you’ll all appreciate and share with your friends on your 78 social media accounts, in reality, I do try to have little things — little routines with kiddo especially — that keep things interesting and keep us from going nuts. My favorite is our weekly “snack attack”, where we go to 7-11 or CVS and I simply let my 8-year-old son buy whatever he wants. It’s good times — although it does result in what I mention in #2 of this week’s strip. Oh well, gotta give ourselves a break this year!

This week’s new Dustinland comic is about how blah quarantine is. Just the same day, over and over again. I mean, when it’s nice out at least you can go for a walk or something, but when it’s cloudy or rainy it’s just… BLAH. Of course I can still suck it up and deal with it because it’s not like living in a hole for two years hiding from nazis like some people had to do during WWII. It’s not like I’m going to risk my life and the lives of my friends and family just so I can go to the gym or hair salon after I burn down a 5G tower. Oh man, we are so doomed in this planet of idiots. That’s a big part of the blah. It only gets more blah if you read the news.

This week’s Dustinland comic is something something meh I dunno.
You know the thing is, I am most energized and inspired in the morning, yet that is when I am least available to be creative, between family life and work. I occasionally have time at night, after a full day of activity, and that’s when I am tired and uninspired and all I want to do is sit on the couch. Such is life I guess, or at least until my kiddo is a teenager who sleeps until 11:00 and never wants to hang out with me. Not that I’m looking forward to that but it will be good for the comic.
