Well America, we did it. We really did it. And now we’re tearing each other apart, as I allude to in this week’s Dustinland comic.
I’m not going say anything more for now. You’ve read it all. You’ve said it all. It’s been a week unlike any other. And the only thing that is clear is that there are two Americas, and they’re as far apart as can be.

Sort of a boring topic covered in this week’s Dustinland comic. I mean, of course it’s not boring boring. It’s very important and fascinating in many ways. But it’s boring in the sense of, well, it’s almost impossible to say anything original about the U.S. presidential election, considering other people are pretty much paid to do nothing but say things about it 24-7. But this is my take on the Democratic primaries (GOP trolls please wait for another comic to comment about Trump, email scandals, socialism and other predictable topics).
Not much to add here beyond what’s in the comic. But yes, my big fear is that Hillary and Bernie are splitting the party. I really see a lot of anger and distrust from both sides, especially young Bernie fans. And my one concern, the one reason I really wrote this comic, was to say that even if you don’t look forward to a Hillary presidency, it’s still going to be WAY better than a Trump or Cruz presidency. Way, way , way better. To the degree of maybe not dooming the entire human race better.
Now, just remember, back in the Gore vs Bush days, there were a lot of Nader fans saying “Hey, Gore, Bush, same thing, right?” Well, I think we all know the answer to that one. Because while Gore was a career politician with support from big donors — just like Hillary — he probably would not have gone down in history as one of the worst U.S. presidents ever, like Bush will. And Trump/Cruz make Bush look reasonable.
So kids, love Bernie. Vote for him. Root for him. I will too! But, if it comes down to Hillary vs. Trump in the end, remember, it’s NOT the same either way. It’s a really, really big difference.

No point in writing any more about this week’s Dustinland comic, considering it’s already a pretty lengthy rant in itself. But yeah, pretty self explanatory. I would imagine you either love it or hate it, depending on your political views, so feel free to heartily agree or to troll me mercilessly. Either way, good times.

Like I say in this week’s political Dustinland comic, it’s so easy to just tell people what they already believe. Orwell said it in 1984. It’s also known as pandering, as I said in this old comic published in MAD Magazine, but current Republicans seem to have a nice grip on a pseudo populist version of pandering that appeals to our laziest and most selfish of urges. Why sacrifice? Why learn about things? It’s not really complicated. It’s SIMPLE. The answers are easy. The way to run things in a way where everyone wins and no one has to really change anything about they way they live is right in front of us. Hey man, that’s an appealing message. I’d love to follow it—if it wasn’t complete fantasy BS.
As for Trump, I love him. Because he’s blowing up the Republican party. It’s hilarious. During debates you just see Jeb Bush and Rand Paul fuming. Especially Paul. He’s like, ” I was supposed to be the crazy anti government one breaking all the rules and thinking outside the box!” Then Trump came in and made him seem like a boring seven-term senator from South Dakota. It’s all very entertaining—and not too scary. I would be more scared if Deez Nuts didn’t have comparable poll numbers. And at least the guy is even giving hedge fund managers shit. Man, he really is the ultimate troll.
