Toe Flush

This week’s Dustinland comic is about public bathrooms. It’s title “Toe Flush.” I think that says it all. We’ve all done it. But what inspired me to draw a comic about it was watching my son do it. At home. He didn’t actually learn it from me. He learned it from his mom. They were out at some dirty public bathroom and she did the old toe flush and now he tries doing it even at home. He just thinks it’s fun. He doesn’t get the concept of not wanting to touch a filthy public poop handle.

As for the caption, well, some of you may remember this classic PSA from back in the day. So there you have it.

Poop.

Staying With The Times

My latest Dustinland comic is about social media. And hey, that’s how I promoted it. But it’s really more of a commentary about people and trends. That’s what’s ultimate underlying the strip. How we’re always chasing what’s hot and never catching up, even when the hottest thing is something we already did many years ago.

Technology or not, some things never change.

The Color Of Pain

I had so much fun with last week’s Dustinland comic, based on the annoying baseball anthem/classic folksong “Cotton Eyed Joe,” that I decided to follow up with a new and very serious strip in the same vein. I won’t ruin the joke with a spoiler alert, so go check it out now before reading the rest of this post.

Go. I’ll give you some room so you don’t accidentally read what it’s about.

So yeah, I wonder if Eiffel 65 had such bummer thoughts in mind when they wrote the classic hit, “I’m blue.” Because if you look at the lyrics, they are pretty depressing. Maybe not as bad as I took it, but hey, good times.

Despair

I was gone for a couple of weeks on a work trip, so I figured I’d come back with a very serious Dustinland comic for these very serious times.

And it does bring up a lot of good questions. Where DID he come from? And where DID he go? It’s a mystery we’ve been trying to solve for ages. And the answer… well, that’s something we may never know.
