Fox it to Me

I wasn’t really sure whether or not to do this week’s Dustinland. At first I was going to do a typical doom and gloom strip about how depressing all this is. But then I realized I should really try and minimize those to when it’s absolutely necessary. So I made it funny (or at least attempted to do so). But you know, my main issue with this strip is that I try not to look down upon Tea Baggers and Fox watchers as if I’m better than them. That just plays into the whole “East Coast liberal elite” bullshit and only makes things worse. What I’d love to do is create art that actually changes people’s minds. But I don’t know if that’s possible, or at least if it is, it’s pretty hard. I’ve tried many times with comics, and usually I only hear from the other side when they want to berate me for being wrong. I can’t think of a single time when someone said, “Hey, that’s a great point. Maybe you’re right.” I don’t know, maybe I’m just a pessimist. Maybe a good argument can persuade someone to change their minds. Either way, this week I was a dick and made fun of Fox watchers, some of whom are merely misled and not evil. Well, at least I got to make fun of the evil ones.
