Birdy and the Gulf Oil Spill

We’ve all seen this sickening photo by now — a bird so covered with oil as to be nearly unrecognizable as a bird. And now it seems the mess in the gulf has afflicted Birdy as well. I don’t know about you, but I can’t imagine he’s going to take this lying down. Check back this week to see what goes down.

And if you can, lend a hand or donate a few bucks to any of the many organizations that’s helping to clean up this mess: LA Gulf ResponseNational Audubon Society, National Wildlife Federation, Matter of Trust, National Park Foundation… even just go out for dinner at a participating restaurant this weekend.

  1. The futile words, “Thank You” are all I can come up with . . . the sight of all those poor animals suffering is devastating. At least you’re making an effort to do SOMETHING! While money may do something to help, there isn’t enough money in the world to make this whole mess right again. And the SAD part is that money was the fundamental cause in the first place! Greed! that’s what it’s all about! Nana

  2. You’re missing the point. All of these birds covered in oil are really just taking money out of our wallets. How much does a pelican cost? Like 10 bucks? That oil easily costs 3x as much and that bird just sits in it. Such a waste.
